About the LYW Foundation
On Father's Day 2012, Liu Yao-Wei tragically lost his life in a car accident while volunteering in India—a heartbreaking event that deeply affected his parents. After six months of grief and reflection, they transformed their sorrow into compassion by establishing the Liu Yao-Wei International Volunteer Foundation, using his assets to continue his legacy of kindness and service.
"Because of poverty, I am here!" — this line from Yao-Wei's diary in India became the foundation's guiding inspiration, driving its mission to reduce inequality and give every child the opportunity to thrive.
Built on the values of Love, Hope, and Dedication, the foundation is devoted to promoting global compassion and encouraging youth to take part in international volunteer service—fulfilling Yao-Wei's dream of making the world a more caring place.
Officially established on January 3, 2013, the foundation's logo symbolizes the circle of life, mutual support, and the spirit of caring for one another.
